What is WOOLSAFE?
WOOLSAFE is a world-wide organisation dedicated to promoting quality care for wool and syn-carpets and rugs through tested and approved products, accredited companies and service, and comprehensive information and professional training.
The WoolSafe Organisation has run a certification programme for carpet maintenance products since 1991; with a new green certification introduced in 2007 for environmentally responsible cleaning products.
The WoolSafe Organisation has had networks of accredited carpet cleaning companies in many countries since 1999, and a network of registered carpet inspectors in UK and Ireland from 2006.
WoolSafe also provides training courses, technical briefs, manuals, textbooks and information leaflets related to carpet maintenance.
WOOLSAFE chemical licensees are maintenance chemical suppliers with WoolSafe-approved products. Products are independenty tested to WoolSafe Standard WS 1001. Those that meet the performance requirements are issued with a Certificate. Accredited suppliers are entitled to display the WoolSafe Certification Mark on packaging, product literature and advertising material related to the product.
All 225+ products currently approved are subject to annual re-evaluation to ensure they continue to meet the WoolSafe requirements. Testing and certification is carried out by the head office in England. The offices in Europe, the USA, Australia and South Africa provide a first point of contact for our overseas members and for new enquiries.
